then there were 3...

Today e lost another "bronco". He had 7 at one time! These are small stuffed horses (similar to teeny beanies) he loves to carry around with his plastic saw while wearing his "paul frank" monkey shirts. (These 3 things are e's favorites) The first bronco was flushed at "granny's house". I had already ordered 6 more before the flushing fearing we would lose the only one he had. Thankfully, they came in the mail. The next one to go was lost somewhere outside his school during a tantrum on the way to the car, then another was flushed at home a couple of weeks ago. The latest one met its demise at North Park Mall this evening. I stay at least 3-4 feet from the large fountain, but somehow he threw it in and it went straight to the center.
We now have only 3 left...
If you see a purple horse in the fountain at North Park... you will know why it is there.

back seat driver

E loves to direct me or his daddy around while we drive in the car. He will make "sounds" when we are supposed to turn and he will point with his "saw saw" or "bronco" (these are his latest binkies) in his hand which way we are supposed to go. He has his "selected" routes and we are supposed to stay on them. We have special words we must say as we drive as he points to the items he knows along the way on his "routes." E knows the way to his school, therapy and granny and granddad's house. He also knows his way home from these places. If we must go to a new place or go a new way I have to repeat over and over, new way, new place. He does not like change, so unscheduled stops are a challenge.
Today....we had to make a stop by a bank on the way home. It was just the drive thru, but I really had to do some talking to pull this off with out a meltdown. We made it and once I got back on his "route" he successfully directed me home. I must say it went much today better than a few months ago when part of his "route" home from school was closed due to a gas leak. Ugh... 2 hours after we were home he was still upset about the route change! Not today, I did A TON of talking and he did much better with the change...Progress!

my blog begins

Several people suggested I start a blog to chronicle our daily experiences with e. He is our 4 year old special needs son that keeps us busy. E functions at the developmental age of 2 even though he is almost 5 years old. Imagine being "stuck" in the terrible 2's... that's our story and that's...
Life with e.
